COPELAND Borough Council is urging residents to attend a series of events to discuss spending for the coming year.
The council has drawn together its draft budget for 2017/18 and now the public is being asked to comment upon the plans.
The draft budget, supporting documents and a survey can be found at www.copeland.gov.uk.
The budget supports the council's Corporate Strategy, which prioritises town centre regeneration, commercialisation, strengthening the way we operate and employment, skills and social wellbeing.
Copeland's Elected Mayor Mike Starkie said: "We want as many people as possible to come and hear about our finances for next year. We must continue to make savings, but we have a robust plan in place. However it's important the public are consulted and Copeland residents are able to give us their views about various parts of the planned spending. These are the people who should be helping shape our priorities for the year ahead and I look forward to meeting as many of them as possible at these events."
The consultation events are as follows
Monday Jan 16, Egremont Rugby League Club 5-6.30pm
Tuesday Jan 17, Cleator Moor Civic Hall 5- 6.30pm
Thursday Jan 19, Whitehaven Beacon 5-6.30pm
Friday Jan 20, Millom Network Centre, 7.30-9am (this is a breakfast meeting aimed primarily at businesses.)
Residents can also see the proposed budget, plus supporting documents and a survey at www.copeland.gov.uk.
